MOST POPULAR WAYS TO BUILD BROKEN LINKS TO YOUR WEBSITE

Welcome back to yet another blog from Akuna Technologies. Today we understand ways to build broken links. So what can be done about it? What can we do about situations and problems that lead to broken links to maximize redirecting on our website? So here are some of the best practices we follow and suggest to our clients:

Fix broken links at the earliest

YES! You should fix broken links. Do continue to fix broken links periodically, because we don’t know which links Google isn’t counting or checking on. Plus it adds a good user experience for your users on the website. When users are coming from one URL to another, they don’t want to see broken pages at all and those link signals can pass relevance and value to Google accordingly.

Prioritize website pages with high authority

Pages being prioritized and links with high authority is excellent back linking work.

Your site may have tons of broken links and you don’t need to fix all of them. But what you must think of prioritizing are the high value links where the pages get lots of links pointing to them or links from pages that have lots of value themselves.

Keeping this point simple, fix the pages with your highest number of links. These are surely going to be your most valuable links to fix and get Google SEO rising.

Redirect to relevant URLs

We want you to understand and make sure we’re redirecting to relevant URLs. You don’t want to redirect anything and everything to your homepage or necessarily a category page that’s off-topic on your website.

It is important to understand, does the page you are redirecting to rank for the same types of keywords as the old URL? Or would it provide a good user experience to users coming from the old link? The more closer you are to the original page on the website, the more likely those link signals are to pass from one target onto another.

Ideally, in cases where you can’t redirect to a relevant page, a close as possible page works well.

You don’t need to fix every link

You don’t have to fix every link! Broken links are a very natural part of the internet. If we go into our broken links report, we have a lot of broken links. Time management should be kept in mind with feasibility to fix every one of them. But fixing the good ones makes sense i.e. fixing the ones with high authority, with freshness signals and redirecting to relevant URLs.

Hope you have a fair idea of what we just showcased.
